School is Underway!
There are more than 70 students at the Richard Gates Industrial School in Guayaramerin this year!! And they are almost done with the new airstrip. Steve Wilson and his family will be based there in another month to start flying Medivac trips from that location.
School’s cafeteria also serves as a multi-functional hall

Aboard a cattle truck, the students and teachers go to town for outreach programs. They’re divided into groups which do various activities, like singing and praying for people in the park, prison ministry, and distributing literature.
In this school, the students are not only learning academics but also practical arts that are useful for them such as baking, sewing, raising cattle, and gardening. The school would bake loaves of bread and sell them in town so they can have some income.
Once in a while, Brandtley would fly to Guayamerin to transport volunteers and supplies for the school. It is always a delight to see and talk with the students. They are so friendly and polite.
“He who co-operates with the divine purpose in imparting to the youth a knowledge of God, and molding the character into harmony with His, does a high and noble work. As he awakens a desire to reach God’s ideal, he presents an education that is as high as heaven and as broad as the universe; an education that cannot be completed in this life, but that will be continued in the life to come; an education that secures to the successful student his passport from the preparatory school of earth to the higher grade, the school above.” – Education Chapter 1, paragraph 19
