In order to make a flight we currently get fuel from the nearby airport in Santa Cruz (shown here on left picture). While it is close by, it is very inconvenient to refuel there for normal operations.
It is time consuming to fly there and wait in line to get fuel. Then before we can fly we have to walk to the flight plan office, manually fill out a flight plan, walk it over to the narcotics police for approval, back to the flight plan office and then depart.
In addition, the narcotics police may want to inspect the airplane before we go. This whole process can take 1 to 2 hours or more.
We need to setup a couple of tanks on the field and purchase either a fuel truck or trailer to haul the fuel from the airport to the runway.
By setting up fuel tanks at the home base we can fuel there and depart anytime. It will greatly improve efficiency of flights and reduce our operational costs since we will not have to fly to the city just for fuel.
Costs:
Fuel Tanks - $7,500 to $10,000
Fuel truck / trailer - $5,000 to $30,000
